Happy Christmas & New Year

A belated Happy Christmas to you all, and best of luck in the New Year.

But let's not forget the true meaning of Christmas... presents!

I got a good haul this year, a Nintendo DS with Mariokart and Project Rub, and Chergui Eau de Parfum from Andrea, a jumper, a calendar, several DVDs, 2 packets of coffee (from Spain and UAE), a book, olives, serving dishes, etc.. Thank you all, the gifts are cool!

Someone in work got me a Magidoodle, appropriate present for a system architect I suppose.

No plans for new years, no parties, no nothing. Andrea wants us to eat chocolates and drink mulled wine.

Suits me fine!

I wonder will the Irish media be reporting this?

Jim Love

My uncle Jim has died. I'm a bit in shock. I wasn't kidding myself about the cancer, but I expected he had longer. I lived with Rose & Jim for a few months when I was younger, what were some of the happiest in my life, my first taste of freedom, and my first real exposure to London. That asside, Jim was one of the nicest people I ever met. He was a quiet, pragmatic, loving, intelligent and honest man. His commitment to his family and their future has always inspired me. After my own parents, Rose and Jim are the biggest influence on my life I think.

The funeral is on Thursday. If anyone is going down to Schull or Goleen there's a page with some B&Bs on WestCorkWeb.ie. Myself and Joe and Phil are booked into Heron's Cove. I've rented a car and I'll be going down from Dublin on Wednesday if anyone wants a lift.

Malaysia

Well folks, it is 3pm on Friday, and apart from some emails and bits and pieces I am finished for today, and for this trip. One more night and I'm departing for London tomorrow morning. I'll be home in Dun Laoghaire by around 8 or 9 in the evening.

Excellent business class on Malaysian Airlines, I'm almost looking forward to the 12 hour flight! It has been a good trip. I'm staying in Subang Jaya which is quite far from Kuala Lumpur downtown (can't see the KL or Petronas towers from here), and the hotel is not too bad (not great either, the rooms smell a bit damp, and the coffee sucks - I'm about to head out to find a Starbucks! Breakfast is great though...)

See you all soon!

P.S. I didn't bring the camera on this trip (I only had a few hours to pack) but here is a crummy picture taken with the phone from the hotel window...

Malaysia

I can hardly believe it myself but now I'm in Heathrow again waiting for a flight to Kaula Lumur. I only got back from Tokyo on Friday night. It is a bit too much, this is the last trip this year!
